Convention and General Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network 2013 Report

September 18th-20th, 2013, delegates from Creative Design City Nagoya attended the Convention and General Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities in Bologna, which in 2006 was designated as a UNESCO City of Music. Converging at the meeting were delegates from 27 out of the 34 total member cities. The mayor of Bologna’s greeting celebrated the opening of the annual meeting, held in the University Library of Bologna. University of Bologna is known as the oldest university in the world. During the opening period, city center streets, including The Jazz Pathway, were open to the public, and there were events unique to this city of music, including live performances held here and there on the streets.

In the Sub-Network Meeting, delegates from member cities of design reported on their individual activities and discussed future exchange programs. Following the meeting’s close on the 21st, delegates from participant cities attended a B2B meeting hosted by the City of Bologna, which provided them the opportunity to learn about Bologna’s extremely high-level creative industry and the design activities going on there.
